SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE (CMC)
Description: Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a cellulose-derived polymer with thickening, stabilizing and film-forming properties. It dissolves easily in water forming viscous solutions that improve the stability of emulsions and gels and is widely used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products due to its biocompatibility.

| Applications | Used in creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, skin care products, hair care formulations and liquid makeup to improve stability, texture and uniformity. |
| Recommended Usage | 0.1 – 2% depending on the desired viscosity. |
| Handling | Disperse in the aqueous phase with constant agitation to avoid lump formation. Can be combined with other hydrocolloids to improve stability and performance. |
| Precautions | Do not ingest. For cosmetic use only. Do not apply on open wounds or irritated skin. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. |
