Low-irritation foaming and softening agent used as a co-surfactant in personal care products. Shampoos, baby care products, liquid hand soaps, facial cleansers, shower gels, pet shampoos. Also used in household, industrial and institutional cleaning products.

DESCRIPTION

INGREDIENT NAME: COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE · COMMON NAME /

Amphoteric surfactant compatible with anionic, cationic and nonionic surfactants. Biodegradable. When combined with anionic surfactants it increases foam and viscosity.

Characteristics: Transparent, low-viscosity liquid, free of foreign particles, slightly yellow · Color (Gardner) 3.00 max. · pH (direct) 4.50–7.0 · % solids 35.00–37.00 · % active matter 30.00 min. · % sodium chloride 2.50–6.00

Practical formulation guide

Usage level: Guideline range: 8–20 % total active matter in shampoo and body wash; 3–10 % in gentle facial cleansers. Always calculate based on the product's active matter.

How to use and incorporate: Add the surfactant to the water (not the water onto the surfactant) with slow stirring to avoid excess foam. If solid or paste, melt or dissolve first in warm water. Adjust the pH at the end (5–6.5 for facial and hair products) and the viscosity with salt (sodium chloride 0.5–2 %) or a thickener.

Formulation tips:

Combining a primary surfactant with a secondary one (betaine, glucoside, amphoteric) improves mildness, foam and viscosity.
Anionic and cationic surfactants may be incompatible; check clarity and stability when combining them.
Before scaling up, make a pilot batch and run a stability test (cycles at 4 / 25 / 45 °C/39 / 77 / 113 °F for 4 weeks, checking odor, color, pH, viscosity and separation) in the final packaging.

Compatibility: Compatible with other anionic, amphoteric and nonionic surfactants, conditioning polymers and most extracts and fragrances.

Storage: Store in a well-ventilated place, protected from the sun. Keep the container hermetically sealed. Keep out of reach of children.

Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. In case of skin contact, rinse with water. If swallowed, rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice if you feel unwell. Wear gloves, protective clothing and eye and face protection.
