DESCRIPTION
Emollient / Fatty base
The deodorizing process uses temperatures up to 230 °C/446 °F, which ensures the elimination of pathogenic microorganisms. Since moisture is removed, there is no medium for microbial growth in the oil. A product free of off-odors and off-flavors, ideal for cosmetic formulations where a neutral profile is wanted.
Practical formulation guide
Usage level: Depending on the formulation, it can be used from 5 % to 100 %
How to use and incorporate: Add to the oil phase of the formula. Oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic, linolenic) are heat-sensitive: add them during cool-down (below 40 °C/104 °F) or heat them as briefly as possible. In anhydrous products (body oils, balms) blend cold or warm.
Formulation tips:
- Add an antioxidant such as tocopherol (vitamin E) at 0.05–0.5 % to delay rancidity and extend shelf life.
- Combine light, fast-absorbing oils with heavier oils to adjust the skin feel; dry oils work well in facial serums and heavier oils in balms and products for dry skin.
- Before scaling up, make a pilot batch and run a stability test (cycles at 4 / 25 / 45 °C/39 / 77 / 113 °F for 4 weeks, checking odor, color, pH, viscosity and separation) in the final packaging.
Storage: Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and strong oxidizing agents. The product has an affinity for lipophilic solvents. Shelf life: 1 year from the date of manufacture.
Precautions: Low-hazard product. Avoid contact with eyes. Spills make surfaces slippery.
