DESCRIPTION

Aqueous Fenugreek Extract

Description:

Aqueous fenugreek extract is obtained by macerating or infusing Trigonella foenum-graecum seeds in purified water. A light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic herbal aroma. It contains natural bioactive compounds such as saponins, mucilage, flavonoids and alkaloids. An extract rich in mucilage, polysaccharides, steroidal saponins, amino acids, plant proteins and minerals. It is valued for its ability to hydrate, soften, soothe and protect the skin, and to strengthen and revitalize hair. Its mucilage content creates a protective film that improves skin elasticity and softness. Saponins and nutrients invigorate the hair · Mechanism / technical function:

Moisturizing and humectant: thanks to its high mucilage content.
Soothing and comforting: useful for sensitive or irritated-looking skin.
Skin conditioner: improves softness and elasticity.
Mild antioxidant: helps protect against free radicals.
Hair strengthener: traditionally used for a fuller look and healthy-looking hair.

Recommended dosage:

Facial use: 1–10 % · Body use: 2–10 % · Hair use: 5–15 % (depending on the supplier's concentration and the desired effect).

Practical formulation guide

Usage level: Guideline usage level: 1–5 % for liquid extracts and 0.1–1 % for dry or concentrated extracts.

How to use and incorporate: Aqueous, glycolic or glycerin extracts: add to the water phase or during cool-down (below 40 °C/104 °F). Oil extracts: add to the oil phase or during cool-down. Powdered extracts: first dissolve or disperse in water or glycerin. Adjust the pH at the end.

Formulation tips:

May be sensitive to: very acidic (<4) or very alkaline (>8) pH
Highly oxidizing systems · High temperatures for prolonged periods.
Extracts contribute color, odor and microbial load: use a broad-spectrum preservative system and run a microbial challenge test on the final formula.
They may precipitate in the cold or over time; filter or shake before use and check that the color or clarity of the finished product does not change.
Before scaling up, make a pilot batch and run a stability test (cycles at 4 / 25 / 45 °C/39 / 77 / 113 °F for 4 weeks, checking odor, color, pH, viscosity and separation) in the final packaging.

Compatibility: Compatible with: Gels, creams, surfactants, humectants, emulsifiers, gums, extracts, hydrosols.

Storage: Storage and stability: - Store between 15–25 °C/59–77 °F. Keep in a closed container Avoid direct light and moisture. Avoid cross-contamination. Typical shelf life: 12–24 months depending on supplier and preservation. Safety / toxicological information: A naturally derived ingredient, generally safe for cosmetic use. Non-irritating at recommended use levels. Run compatibility and stability tests in the final formulation. A patch test is recommended for users sensitive to legumes. Suggested packaging: HDPE, amber PET or opaque PE packaging. Airtight, cosmetic-grade containers.
