Botanical Extract
Adds botanical value to the formula.
It is used in creams, facial toners, moisturizing lotions, products for sensitive skin and skin treatments. It is also found in brightening formulations thanks to its ability to improve the look of skin tone and radiance.
COSMETIC DIRECTIONS
Concentrations of 1–10 % are recommended in cosmetic products. It can be used daily in face creams, gels or serums, or in masks and toners. An addition of 1–3 % is recommended in facial products, 3–5 % in hair products and 5–10 % in body products; however, higher concentrations show no negative effects. Its use is safe and suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Aqueous rice extract is obtained from the grain of Oryza sativa, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It is used in cosmetics for its moisturizing, softening and revitalizing properties, helping improve skin texture and radiance. It is ideal for sensitive, dry or tired-looking skin.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRODUCT
Rice extract is rich in bioactive compounds such as amino acids, flavonoids and polysaccharides, which provide hydration and antioxidant protection. It softens the skin, improves elasticity and helps keep tone even-looking. It also has a mild soothing effect, reducing the look of irritation and redness.
- Extracts contribute color, odor and microbial load: use a broad-spectrum preservative system and run a microbial challenge test on the final formula.
- They may precipitate in the cold or over time; filter or shake before use and check that the color or clarity of the finished product does not change.
- Before scaling up, make a pilot batch and run a stability test (cycles at 4 / 25 / 45 °C/39 / 77 / 113 °F for 4 weeks, checking odor, color, pH, viscosity and separation) in the final packaging.
