Active for Tone Evenness
Extract of the marine algae Dictyopteris membranacea used as a skin-lightening agent because it acts on the three mechanisms responsible for skin pigmentation. The pigmentation process can be summarized in three steps: When exposed to UV rays, keratinocytes secrete endothelin. This binds to receptors on melanocytes, activating melanin synthesis from tyrosine. Melanin is synthesized through the action of tyrosinase, a genetically regulated enzyme.

FUNCTION
Decreases endothelin formation, which reduces melanin synthesis (melanosome biogenesis and maturation).Inhibits specific genes to reduce melanosome production and size (activation and melanin synthesis).Decreases migration of mature melanosomes toward keratinocytes (reduction of extracellular melanin).

Storage: Optimal temperature between 4 and 18 °C, protected from light. If precipitates form during storage, shake until reconstituted before formulating.
