Hydrosol of Lavender
Cosmetic Ingredient
It is a byproduct of essential-oil distillation and carries some plant properties that do not appear in the oil because some components have affinity only for water. It acts as a relaxing and moisturizing ingredient and has purifying properties used in formulations for oil-prone skin; it acts for a renewed, smooth-skin appearance, reduces irritation in sensitive skin, restores smoothness and elasticity to sagging skin, acts as an astringent, reduces excess oil in hair, and may be used as an aid in the treatment of lice.

APPLICATIONS
Used in refreshing lotions, creams for a smooth-skin appearance, treatments for oil-prone skin, after-shave & sun products, and hair products such as anti-frizz products, shampoos, and creams.
Storage: Preserve in tightly closed containers under refrigeration. Once opened, it should be used within no more than 6 months.
Technical Information for Formulators: This sheet describes industrial applications of the raw material in the development of cosmetic products. It does not constitute an efficacy claim for any finished product. The formulator is responsible for validating concentration, compatibility, and product claims in accordance with applicable regulations.
Practical Formulation Guide
Uses and Applications: Serums, creams, toners, gels, shampoos, and personal care formulations as a botanical component.
Incorporation Method: The phase depends on the carrier: aqueous, glycolic, or glycerinated extracts are generally added to the aqueous phase or during cooling; oil-based extracts are added to the oil phase.
Dosage: As a starting point, liquid extracts are commonly tested at approximately 0.5–5%, while concentrated powders are used at lower levels; the supplier's recommendation always takes precedence.
Critical Points: Check color, odor, pH, solubility, microbial load, and the effect on preservation. An extract can affect stability even at low concentration.
Good Practices: Perform stability and compatibility testing in the final formula. The supplier's TDS, COA, and SDS take precedence over any general guidance range.
