DESCRIPTION
Plant or Botanical · Cosmetic and Craft Use
Natural dried spearmint (Mentha spicata). An herb with a fresh, minty aroma for infusions, macerates and soaps; traditionally used in herbal infusions for its refreshing qualities. For natural cosmetics and herbal preparations. Adds plant-derived active compounds to the formulation.
Practical formulation guide
Usage level: 0.5 % – 10 % in cosmetics
How to use and incorporate: Fine powders: mix directly into masks, scrubs, bath salts and soaps (in glycerin soap, first disperse in a little glycerin or oil). Whole or dried plants: prepare infusions or macerations (5–10 % plant material in hot water, glycerin or oil; oil maceration 4–6 weeks cold or 2–3 hours in a double boiler) and filter before use.
Formulation tips:
- Plant materials add microbial load: in water-based products use a broad-spectrum preservative and run a stability test.
- In soaps, some plants change color or darken due to the alkaline pH; large particles can be abrasive.
Compatibility: Compatible with clays, salts, oils, glycerin and soap bases.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place. Avoid moisture.
Precautions: Check for plant allergies before use. Avoid inhaling the fine powder.

The person responsible for the formulation must validate the concentration, compatibility and claims of their product in accordance with applicable regulations.
